This miracle sugar is called Xylitol. It’s been around for years but is not popularly known. This natural sugar is used in toothpaste to prevent decay, in chewing gum to prevent decay and clear up ear infections in children, and in a nasal spray to help keep you infection free. The spray has also been known to clear up ongoing sinus infection, ear infection, upper respiratory infection, and sometimes even asthma or allergies. Xylitol is found in some fruits and vegetables but mainly in corncobs and birch bark. Europeans and Asians have used it for decades. Some countries even use it in IV solutions. It is a healthy sugar.
THE TOOTHPASTE --White sugar promotes tooth caries, but the Xylitol toothpaste really helps to prevent decay. It fights cavities, plaque, dry mouth, and bad breath. It neutralizes plaque acids and even remineralizes tooth enamel. None of my friends have even heard of this toothpaste. It’s delicious!
THE CHEWING GUM -- Your kids will love chewing this Xylitol gum after meals if they won’t brush after each meal. But just remember that if you have a mouth full of mercury fillings, chewing gum can cause leakage of metals into the body, so don’t chew gum. Chewing this gum has also cleared up many a child’s ear infections. In chewing the gum, the Xylitol sugar seeps from the mouth into tiny canals to the ears.
THE NASAL SPRAY -- The nasal spray with the Xylitol sugar is called XLEAR. Xlear is pronounced "Clear". Research has found that Xlear helps to clear and prevent many types of infections. Over 90 percent of all infection-causing bacteria enter through the nose. Infections happen when bacteria enter the nose, attach to cells and infect the cells. But in the presence of Xlear, many infection-causing bacteria lose the ability to adhere to these cells. Without this adhesion, infection is very limited if not impossible. Xlear does not kill bacteria as antibiotics do. It washes them away. Xlear shows a very positive effect in preventing a majority of ear infections in children. And the bacteria, which cause sinusitis and bronchitis also, live in the nose and can be washed away with Xlear. Xlear was developed by Dr. Lon Jones, whose interest in Xylitol began after reading Finnish research regarding the effectiveness of Xylitol chewing gum in reducing the incidence of ear infections. Knowing that ear infections begin in the nose and not the mouth, Dr. Jones began his own research and formulated Xylitol into a nasal wash solution, which he gave to his granddaughter who had frequent ear infections. His granddaughter’s recurring infections stopped after the nasal wash. Dr. Jones also had great success using Xlear for sinus infections, allergies, asthma, and bronchitis. Just spray a couple squirts into each nostril, sniff it down, and do this as often as needed. This is a totally natural product (not a drug) so you really cannot overdo it, even with children and babies.

I use all three products above. They are enjoyable and easy to use. I use them as preventatives, but when anyone breathes cold or flu germs at me, I run for my nasal wash spray. I strongly urge you to buy a nasal spray for each member of the family. The wash costs $16.95 per bottle or $14.95 each when you buy 3 or more (one will last 2 or 3 months). The toothpaste is $7.50 for a tube. The gum costs $12.00 for 100 chews. Call us with any questions at 727-449-0772.
