With light on, hold the pen directly on the painful soft tissue or muscle. (Or hold the light about an inch away from the skin if preferred.) Hold for at least 7 seconds (not more than 2 minutes), twice a day, or more, if needed. Do not shine directly into the eye, but it is safe to use on the eye lid when the eyes are closed.
