Antibiotic-resistant germs are now considered epidemic in the United States and account for a growing number of serious infectious disorders. While most antibiotics disinfect about a half dozen or so germs, silver disinfects over 650. Most importantly, unlike conventional antibiotics, germs cannot build a resistance to the action of silver. A properly prepared colloid of silver is a special liquid preparation of this trace mineral that is extremely safe to use, even with children, without the negative side effects of prescription antibiotics.
When properly prepared, Colloidal Silver is a completely non-toxic, tasteless, internally and externally applicable, broad-spectrum, disinfecting antibiotic which can significantly reduce the length and severity of most any type of bacterial infection.
Colloidal Silver is best stored in dark glass and should be kept away from light and high temperatures. Sunlight or room light will quickly degrade colloids by turning the solution gray or black, just as exposure to light darkens the silver in camera film. (Light neutralizes positive charges on silver ions that help keep particles in suspension.) Keep colloidal solution cool but do not freeze. Do not refrigerate or expose to other rapid temperature changes (such as a hot car) or its usefulness will be affected. Shake or stir before using each time to insure even distribution of silver. It may also be stored in plastic, but not clear plastic, as it needs protecting from the light. A plastic spray bottle is ideal for spraying onto cuts, bruises, infections, scrapes, into the eyes, and to disinfect counter-tops, pet's bedding, diaper rashes, and a multitude of uses.
Internal Use
Published literature refers to concentrations of 5 to 15 parts per million as the optimum concentration for internal use. Sublingual absorption (under the tongue) carries substances into the bloodstream where they are then transported quickly to body cells. Therefore, swishing the solution under the tongue before swallowing, is beneficial. For internal use, take a colloidal silver which does not exceed 15 ppm, and this should be listed on the label. The daily dose is from 2 teaspoons to 3 tablespoons per day, taken in smallish amounts throughout the day.
External Use
Colloidal Silver can be put into the eyes, ears, nose, throat, teeth, and virtually any external part, full strength. It can be sprayed over the skin. It is supposed to kill all bacteria, virus and fungi organisms within six minutes of contact, both externally and internally. This has been proved in laboratory tests.
IMPORTANT: With colloidal silver, taking small amounts is definitely better than large amounts. Allergy Research Group, in the Fall of l995 issue of Focus, recommended doses of between 3 teaspoons to 3 tablespoons per day. Researchers say that silver is slowly eliminated from the body. If silver is only "slowly" eliminated, you would only want to take the silver short-term so that no metal would build up in the body. A colloidal is not supposed to leave any residue in the body because of its small particle size, but there is really no conclusive proof one way or the other, so for internal use, the suggestions are to use it short term as an alternative to taking antibiotics.
THE TASTE OF YOUR COLLOIDAL SILVER: It is believed that the taste of the silver colloid depends on its pH and its age. Usually colloidal silver is tasteless. The silver colloid may develop a sour or bitter taste if the pH is not neutral. It may also develop a metallic taste if the concentration of silver is too high or the solution has aged and started to oxidize.
DOES IT KILL THE FRIENDLY BACTERIA TOO? The current literature is undecided about this, but to be on the safe side, if the silver is taken for more than just short term use, it is advisable to dose up with friendly bacteria about once a month ( L-acidophilus, L-salivarius, etc.). Since colloidal is non-toxic, one could take much larger amounts than 3 tablespoons of colloidal silver per day (and have done so) with no side effects, but if so, this is a case where one would be wise to replace the friendly bacteria. With the smaller amounts suggested for internal use (2 tsp. to 3 tbs. per day), researchers feel that the silver is absorbed by the tissues before it reaches the colon so that the possibility of it's killing the friendly bacteria is not very great.
